Posted in fairness to Polis, getting words to speak up for charters, and, gasp, a gas stove at the media darling Casa Bonita? Won't someone think of the children?!
.
In the interest of fairness to Polis.
I write a lot about the things that Polis gets wrong. It's good to take a second and force oneself to review some of the things he gets right.
Worthy of special mention here:
Polis' veto of a bill that would have allowed local governments first shot at buying up certain kinds of housing for use as "affordable housing" (defined in the bill). That's the first link below if you'd like more detail.**
Polis' mention of the fact (and related to an earlier op ed I posted by Brauchler) that the Assembly dropped the ball on letting the Commission on Criminal Justice sunset without renewal. That's the second link below.
Having done my duty, I now proceed to go wash the taste out of my mouth by eating some beef.
**This particular veto has really gotten the attention of the left-leaning press. I gather that it has gotten howls of protest from the farther left end of the party.

If something is a passion for you, you should read both those that speak contrary to your position and those that agree, the latter so you can help bolster and gird your position on the issue.
School choice is important. If it's a passion for you, I urge you to read the op ed.
One thing that I think you can gain from reading op eds on a topic that you are already in support of is words and concepts to help inform your own thinking and words to help express what is already in your heart.
I hesitate to put it this way, because I think it cheapens the formation of opinions and it isn't terribly precise, but I can't think of a better shorthand than to say that reading op eds helps you get talking points you can use later.
Presented in that spirit.

Now hear this:
The media darling Casa Bonita restaurant has <<gasps and clutches pearls>> a gas stove!
Yes friends, you read that right. If you could see me, you would see the pain and disappointment on my face.
It turns out that, at least in the opinion of the new chef there, steaming food don't cut it when it comes to quality cookin'.
No word on whether induction would have been feasible for this kitchen, but I do want you to take note of the fact that they chose to go back to natural gas. We can infer this because the lines had to be repaired in the kitchen.
Shameful.
Oh, and let me toss in a "won't someone think of the children?"
