Pueblo opts-out of the Democrats' "sensitive spaces" ban. Update on water right sales in the Lower Arkansas River Valley. A late-addition on Ranked Choice Voting.
Another domino falling: Pueblo opts-out of the Democrats' "sensitive spaces" ban on concealed carry.
One of the more recent gun control efforts by CO Democrats. was to make illegal concealed carry in what they deemed "sensitive spaces" (see the bill linked first below).
One decent aspect of this bill was that it allowed local governments to opt out; that is, it allowed local governments to allow concealed carry in their government buildings.
Pueblo is the most recent one to opt out, joining a lengthy list of counties and cities (and one which seems to be growing). See the Complete article linked first below for more details.
I have to say it warms my heart to see it, as much for the fact that it sends a loud and clear signal to the progressive politicians in the Front Range that "we do not agree" as for the fact that the folks in Pueblo have their rights protected.
If this issue or this story is a passion, follow Complete and/or make a habit of checking their "Page Two" (linked second below). They are, to my knowledge, one of a VERY few following this story.

Update on water right sales in the Lower Arkansas River Valley
I did an in-depth look at water rights in the Lower Arkansas River Valley last August (see the link below).
Part of that writing was about the (rightful in my view) heartburn over Aurora's most recent water purchase out of the Valley.
I think enough noise got made by enough groups to move the players to the table to revisit Aurora's latest water grab IN ADDITION to the decades-old agreement between groups in the valley, Aurora, Pueblo, Colorado Springs, and the Feds.
I hope that they can arrive at an agreement tolerable by ALL involved, not just one that keeps those cities wet at the expense of people who've lived in the region for generations and who want to continue their way of life.

Late addition:
Colorado Sun interview with a Republican politician in Alaska (a state which instituted a ranked-choice voting similar very much similar to the one on our ballot).
I am still a no, but I posted about how Alaskans were running a ballot measure to return to their original elections system and so I thought some counterpoint would be in order.
Presented in that spirit:
